Leading Positions on the Russian Market
zoom ![]() | MMK maintains leading positions on the Russian rolled steel market. In 2010 the Company accounted for 17% of all rolled steel production in Russia. During the course of the year MMK's commercial steel production grew 17% compared to 2009, with domestic shipments increasing 44% and surpassing the rate of growth of Russian steel consumption. This was possible largely due to the introduction of high-margin products that meet domestic demand, including products that replaced imports.. |
Russian and CIS MarketsHistorically, the bulk of MMK's products has been sold to customers in the Urals (37%) and the Volga regions (30%) which today account for two thirds of MMK's sales. This sales structure is determined by the concentration of major sectoral consumers in these regions and has remained unchanged in recent years. Another major market for MMK is the central Russia, which accounts for 10% of total domestic shipments, while another 7% going to Siberia. A significant portion of MMK's sales go to Belorus and other CIS countries: in 2010 they accounted for 680,000 tons of steel shipments (about 10% of total domestic shipments). | zoom |
