Social sphere
To maintain a favourable social climate in the region where it operates, the Company continues to implement major charitable projects aimed at developing the urban environment and creating favourable living conditions for the city's residents. It provides assistance to the municipal authorities for landscaping and greening in the area and independently invests in the development of the largest social facilities in the city of Magnitogorsk: public associations, various organisations for education, health, culture, sports and religious communities. The Company's social facilities are used not only for the implementation of social programmes for employees of the MMK Group; they are also available for residents of the city and the region.
Among the social facilities of the MMK Group:
· Located on the shore of Bannoye Lake in a picturesque and green part of the southern Urals, Jubilee Sanatorium provides a full range of health services and is equipped with a wide range of year-round entertainment and recreational facilities for an active holiday. This includes the Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Ski Centre which is equipped with a modern gondola lift and hosts annual competitions on a national and international level, including stages of the Deaflympics and the Snowboard World Cup.
· The unique Abzakovo Ski Centre, together with the Abzakovo resort, has become one of the most popular places for winter tourism and recreation. Its water park and complex of entertainment options makes Abzakovo an attractive year-round recreational destination.
· The private Children's Health and Educational Complex includes two children's camps, one which operates in the summer (Mountain Gorge) and one which runs all year-round (Ural Dawns). Every year over the summer period, the centres welcome more than 7,000 children, and during the off-season, the Ural Zori Preschool Educational Centre provides recreation and spa treatment services for large families and pensioners. There is also a sports and tourist camp "SKIF" on the Mountain Gorge Preschool Educational Centre site, which organises rafting on the Belaya River and other picturesque locations for high school students.
· The Metallurgists Palace of Culture named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze is a unique place that provides MMK employees and Magnitogorsk residents with a space for recreational and leisure activities. Here, residents, employees and their families can develop their creative potential through a wide range of initiatives. Today, the Palace of Culture consists of two facilities located on the left and right banks of the Ural River. It often hosts music concerts, seminars and a range of other events.
· Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Private Sports Club is currently the largest sports facility in Magnitogorsk, which includes a complex of sports grounds and pavilions offering more than 20 different sports, children's sports schools for four types of activities, an ice rink, the Lukomorye recreation area right on the bank of the Ural River with entertainment and wellness infrastructure for the whole family, a zone for beach sports, a training ski slope with tubing tracks and a drag lift, a go-kart track and much more. The area is accessible to all the city's residents.
· Metallurg Sanatorium in the city of Yessentuki. Treatments at this site are based on the City's natural mineral springs. Thanks to these mineral springs, the city has become the most famous resort across the whole of Russia. The sanatorium specialises in dealing with the illnesses of the digestive system, metabolism (including diabetes mellitus and obesity), the genitourinary system, the musculoskeletal system, the peripheral nervous system and the respiratory system. In addition, the sanatorium's medical equipment, working alongside the resort's natural resources, makes it possible to effectively treat a range of ailments. In addition to a variety of treatments, the sanatorium offers a range of recreational and wellness services. These include a swimming pool, gym, sports facilities, a tennis court, children's playgrounds, and much more.
· Non-profit organisation 'Central Clinical Medical and Sanitary Unit'. Today, the Central Clinical Medical and Sanitary Unit is a technological, medical and engineering complex, where more than two thousand specialists work and about twenty thousand patients are treated each year – this includes MMK Group employees and residents of Magnitogorsk and surrounding areas.
The unit's modern equipment and highly qualified staff allow the centre to provide medical care using high-tech methods of diagnosis and treatment in cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, traumatology, surgery, ophthalmology, ENT and gynecology. The centre also handles endoprosthetics of large joints.
There is also a consultative and diagnostic centre for residents of the South Chelyabinsk Region. The regional vascular centre helps patients with acute coronary syndromes such as unstable angina and heart attack.
· In 2018, under the initiative of Victor Rashnikov, MMK's Chairman of the Board of Directors, MMK began the Attraction project, a unique and large-scale project to develop a new urban environment in Magnitogorsk and new opportunities for citizens in terms of self-development, sports and art, education and recreation. The Attraction project will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the city's economy and lead to the creation of new jobs.
