Assistance to emergency services
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) gave ten thousand medical masks, one thousand respirators, five hundred disposable protective overalls and three hundred pairs of closed glasses/face covering as a gift to those who are at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. The supplies have filled an entire warehouse of the ambulance station located on 18 Korobov street.
With the introduction of a high-alert regime in the Russian Federation and various restrictive measures in connection with the threat of COVID-19, the work of MMK's commercial service has undergone significant changes and acquired a special significance. According to MMK Commercial Director Sergey Nenashev, already in March, about 80% of the Company directorate's employees were switched to remote work to reduce the risk of infection. A the same time, the ability of employees to successfully work from home was facilitated by qualified support specialists from MMK-Informservice, as well as by the Company's effective digitalisation of its systems that was carried out as part of the Industry 4.0 strategic initiative.

Equipment for education
To enable the work of active-duty teams during the period of self-isolation and counter the spread of coronavirus, MMK will supply orphanages and specialised schools with contactless thermometers, while kindergartens will be outfitted with UVC lamps that de-contaminate the air.

MMK offers a shoulder
MMK's management initiated the social programme "We stand together", aimed at helping pensioners over 65 years of age who live alone with an income below the double subsistence minimum per capita in the Chelyabinsk region, as well as pensioners over 80 years of age who live alone, regardless of their income level. The programme covered about 12.5 thousand Magnitogorsk pensioners, who received food packages and, which is important amid the pandemic, sets of personal protective equipment (respirators, disinfectants and detergents, rubber gloves).
