MMK: COUNTERING THE PANDEMIC
MMK offers a shoulder
Viktor Rashnikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MMK, has decided to expand the programme. According to MMK CEO Pavel Shilyaev, it will continue operating through April-June this year, which corresponds to the current forecasts for the development of COVID-19 infection in the region. Pensioners will also receive food and hygiene kits. In addition, Mr Shilyaev, together with the administration of Magnitogorsk, said that other categories of city residents who need targeted support have been identified. Among them are large families with a low income per capita, disabled people and other low-income residents of Magnitogorsk – more than 13 thousand citizens in total will be fully covered by the programme. Its direct implementation is entrusted to the city's social services and the Metallurg charitable foundation whose main sponsor is MMK.
Another important decision taken by MMK management is to support medical workers of the central clinical health unit, which is not subject to state support measures. "Today, doctors are at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. We believe that medical workers of this independent not-for-profit organisation should also receive protection, bonus payments and all the support measures that they need in the current situation," said Mr Shilyaev.
