MMK: COUNTERING THE PANDEMIC
MMK donates contactless thermometers to orphanages and childcare centres
Nine orphanages and childcare centres received pyrometers, contactless thermometers for measuring body temperature, as a gift from Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK).
"In our institution, we had one contactless thermometer which we bought before the pandemic,” says Director of Hope Centre Tatyana Mitrofanova, "When the region introduced high alert mode, another thermometer was allocated to us by the Ministry of Social Relations of Chelyabinsk region, but even two is not enough to measure the temperature of students, employees and visitors at least three times a day. Therefore, the gift from MMK was very useful.
“The Hope Centre educates 49 children and teenagers under the age of 18. At any one time, there are just under one hundred people on the territory of the centre, along with a few visitors.
“Even during the period of self-isolation, in line with Rospotrebnadzor's recommendations, pupils are going for walks, however, this is done in compliance with sanitary standards: children are divided into small groups and maintain a social distance.”
Ms Mitrofanova is particularly proud. There has not been a single case of illness during the pandemic, let alone coronavirus, or any other acute respiratory infection. Now the Hope Centre has four devices for contactless temperature measurement and this is enough to get data on all children and employees as quickly as possible.
"Affecting the whole world, the coronavirus pandemic has once again highlighted those people who care about their neighbours, in our case, those who care about these orphaned children," says Ms Mitrofanova. "MMK always helps the city, but these days their help has touched literally everyone. On behalf of myself and the centre's staff and students, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Viktor Rashnikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MMK, and the entire management of the company for their concern and assistance.”
